Emerald City Influence

Before this year, emerald (to most) was merely a city in an old fantasy or a colorful metaphor for envy.  Pantone, the highly acclaimed color authority company, decided that it was due time for emerald to transcend these stereotypes and become 2013’s “Color of the Year”.  Pantone spoke highly of emerald, referring to the hue as “Lively. Radiant. Lush… A color of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony.”  After years of eco-friendly ‘green’ practices and lifestyles becoming increasingly popular, the association with the shade needed a refresher, and becoming the Color of the Year is it.  Incorporated in not only fashion, but also beauty products, home decor, and food presentation, emerald is making its (green) mark all over the world.  Muted for blouses, brightened for walls, and matted for plates, emerald is the perfectly versatile shade for today’s trends.  How will you incorporate emerald into your year?

Inspiration…

Right now I am all about anything light and airy, yet luminous and expensive.  Anything true and raw, yet still beautiful and soft.  Inspiration can (and does) come from anywhere - be it a simple piece or a complex way of life…  An old banana peel made new and beautiful with a skin of diamonds.  An innocent young girl taking in the harsh world around her.  A city of lights caught in a nature of ruin.  Small - yet carefully thought-out - details at a dinner party.  A dancer who’s known pain and has become hard, but holds on to the little bit of softness she has left.  What’s inspiring all of you right now?

A Sophisticated Mess: A living, breathing, walking contradiction. Thrown together until put together. Standing still all over the place. Rock ‘n Roll at the Opera. Studded lace. Laughing at imperfection. Spending more than she earns. Living for the present moment. Passion through fashion, story through style…
